This is my page for if you just want to
find out more about the person behind the webpage ^_^. Below
kind of several basic lists of interests and favorite things, and
farther down is something of a bio. Yeah its rather extensive, actually
parts of it are taken from random "tell about yourself"
quizzes that float around, I take questions I like off of those and put
them here so its all in one place. If you'd like to find out what I'm currently thinking or up to then
just hop on over to my
livejournal. And if you think this is too much info, hey I'm not
making you read it. You came here.
I have a resume available upon
request for anyone interested with a job offer. For information on
commissions go on over to my shop page and check the commissions
section.
Info last updated: 02/13/07
To start off with- I'm a very pale white girl (no I'm not Japanese, I
just like that culture), I was born June 16th, I'm about 5'9", I
have short blonde or red hair (if I've dyed it recently), I'm a geek (which is different from a nerd), and I'm proud of
it. On to less physical stuff, cause the external is rather boring
anyway...
General Stuff
Favorite Color: greens, blues, ochre, deep reds (mostly just nice rich
earth tones)
Favorite Animals: Foxes!! Particularly reds, and fennecs. Cats of all sizes, cute rodents,
um lots of them really. I find almost all animals fascinating, among
other things.
Pets: A cute little chunky Calico kitty, named Kyoko.
She's about 6-7 years old (got from a shelter at 1-2 years old), a real
sweetheart and likes to do about the same things as me- sleep and eat!
My mom also has a spastic psychotic black and white part Siamese named
Socks. Long time ago went through a couple hamsters and a gerbil. Also
had some fish, liked the beta best (he lived seveal years!) Kyoko also
liked him a lot. Not a dog person at all, pet-wise.
Favorite Clothes: I'm really a jeans (not tight) and t-shirt
girl. I like loose comfortable clothing. Why is it they only make the
fun baggy pants for guys?? Grr. I also love stuff with lots of pockets. I don't pay a lot of attention
to looks or fashion, just look for what I like. I don't really go out
and buy clothes very often, I keep the same ones for years till I don't
like them anymore or they wear out. I like having unique t-shirts, well
my taste is just kinda random. I do occasionally like to dress up in a
skirt and stuff, but also is a sporadic random thing. I was never a
person to judge much on fashion, and think a lot of it is kinda dumb.
Favorite Foods: My taste is rather bland, I don't care for
spicy stuff- lots of pastas, rice, dairy products. I like my pasta with
butter and cheese ^_^. I don't eat much red meat, especially not pork products, mostly chicken sometimes and sushi
on occasion (Mmm Philly roll. I'm not a big fish person either, I'd rather crab for the
most part. Don't ask me why I like sushi better than most fish, I just
do.) Its not really a dietary thing as much as a personal
taste thing. I don't ever see myself being able to be completely
vegetarian, I still like a good prime rib once in a while and I of
course use some types of lunch meat for sandwiches (mmm turkey bologna.) Cheese is the
food of the gods.
Favorite Drinks: Juices (apple, orange, sweet berry mixes),
milk, smoothies, milkshakes. Don't care for any sodas (never had a taste
for them), though I'll drink
root beer or cream soda on rare occasion.
Favorite Fruits: strawberries, tangerines, raspberries,
bananas, peaches, kiwi, pomegranates, apples
Favorite Vegetables: cauliflower (with cheese), baby corn,
corn (on the cob is the best!),
garbonzo beans, mushrooms, water chestnuts, okra (preferably fried), sometimes lima beans
Favorite Sweets: Ice cream! (Baskin Robbins, Dairy Queen,
Ben & Jerry's, Dreamery), Carvel Ice Cream cakes, Nerds,
Gobstoppers, Nips (caramel with chocolate center), Juicy gummi snacks (mmm
the Japanese make good gummies!), Hershey's chocolate, Raisinets, Snow
Caps. I really dislike anything with nuts in it (though I like raw nuts
alone), or licorice, or jelly bean types.
Favorite Holiday: Halloween. Definitely. I love dressing
up! Candy reward is pretty nice too ^_^. I also used to really like Easter as a
kid, finding eggs was fun and chocolate bunnies
rock, I like to bite their heads off. Though it is fun to give/receive
on Xmas, I think its too stressful. Better to do it randomly normally.
Favorite Genres: Fantasy, sci-fi (sometimes), horror,
folklore, stuff that makes you think or is uniquely fun, and sometimes
just cute.
Random Stuff I Want: Wish
List on Amazon, strawberry or nice fruity scented oil
to wear, authentic Japanese fox mask and other fox stuff, authentic
kimono with my choice of fabric. Preferably a really cool fox or animal
pattern.
What I want to do when I 'grow up': When I was a kid I was
into stuff like dinosaur archaeology and veterinary stuff, and then
marine-related study (I love swimming/snorkeling). I'd still like to be some kind of photographer.
I was also considering massage therapy. I
know I'll never get by just on art but I have so many ideas for stuff
I'd like to do on the side- making animal ears/tail sets by hand, small
fairy and animals sculptures out of polymer clay, more Cafe Press
t-shirt designs, I'd like to do more fantasy and furry work, and some fanart... Right now I really want to work for Cartoon Network doing
something, ANYTHING. I also harbored a kind of dream to work for a manga
publisher like Tokyo Pop doing editing. My other dream is to be a librarian, or be at
a really nifty bookstore. I still wouldn't mind being involved with
working with wildlife either. Yeah I'm weird.
Shows and Movies
Favorite Anime: Cowboy Beebop, Digimon Tamers, Excel Saga,
Fruits Basket, Gundam
Wing, Howl's Moving Castle, Kare Kano, Laputa: Castle
in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Perfect Blue, Pom Poko, Princess
Mononoke, Read or Die and Read or Dream, Twelve Kingdoms, Samurai Pizza Cats, Spritied Away, Violinist of Hamelin, Vision of Escaflowne,
Wolf's Rain
Anime I Want to See: not really sure right now
Favorite Cartoons: Daria (yay for dry sarcasm!!), Dexter's Laboratory,
Family Guy, Gargoyles,
Pirates of Dark Water, Powerpuff Girls, Simpsons, Teen Titans
Favorite Old 80s Cartoons: Rainbow Brite,
Strawberry Shortcake, Thundercats, Voltron
Favorite TV shows: Not much, I don't watch a whole lot of TV. I
like a lot of the Discovery specials (mostly nature and science), I'm a fan of that, Cartoon
Network, Animal Planet,
the Science Channel (yay How its Made!), Disney Toons Channel and TLC. History and Sci-fi channels sometimes too. I could never seem to get into other
popular shows like X-files and Buffy as I rarely watch anything
regularly. We used to watch Law & Order a lot during dinner tho. I guess I
just don't like a TV schedule dictating when I'll sit down and watch
something, so I just go with what's on or go do something else.
Favorite Movies: the Truman Show, Lord of the Rings, most
stuff by Jim Henson, most
stuff by Tim Burton, most stuff by Pixar, umm... I forget pretty quickly. I love B horror
movies and most fantasy ^_^.

Games and Music
Systems: I only have a DS
right now, but have access to a PS2 and Xbox360 through roommates (and of course computer,
its shiney and new *hugs flatscreen monitor*.) I used to have an old NES but that disappeared (think my
mom tossed it ;_;), so I'm pretty limited as to what games I want. I
never had a SNES or Sega anything (I hate Sonic as a game anyway, cute
characters though.) I
vaguely want a GameCube for Smash Bros, but since I can barely afford
many PS2 games probably won't. I'm usually like a system behind most
other people, but that usually means cheaper used games ^_^.
Favorite Video Games: Animal Crossing (DS), Bust a Move
4 (the bubble popping game- PSX), DDR (PS2, though I suck), Disgaea:
Hour of Darkness (PS2), Gauntlet (PS2), Kingdom Hearts (PS2), Kirby's Dreamland- all (GB),
Mario Kart (SNES, GBA), Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA),
Okami (PS2), Pokemon Puzzle Challenge (GBC), Puyo
Pop (GBA), PUzzle Quest (DS), the Simpsons (arcade), Super Mario 2 (NES), TM Ninja Turtles
(arcade), Tetris (GB), a lot of old-school games like Centipede,
Joust, and Frogger.
Currently Playing: Puzzle Quest (DS)
Favorite Board and Card Games: Chez Geek, Chez Dork, Flux,
Lunch Money, MagiNation, Mah Jong, Monopoly, Settlers of Catan
Favorite Music: most anything not rap or country.
Classical, Rock, Pop, older stuff, whatever. I've been looking for some
good girl rockish/ goth metalish bands lately, of any nationality (I just found a
couple have have some new albums ordered finally.) I used to listen to mostly J-pop (like the Pillows, Do as Infinity,
Maaya Sakamoto, and some soundtracks) and whatever I feel like from my
old albums. I generally like female artists, tho not
always. I love girl rock (stuff like Garbage, Joydrop, Hole, Tori Amos,
Evanescence)
and Celtic rock (Seven Nations, Young Dubliners.) I like good mellow
stuff too (Cowboy Junkies, Enya, Loreena McKennitt). And then I
like older stuff like the Beatles, the Bangles, some Jethro Tull, and
Moody Blues.

My avatars!
You can find me mainly under the user name Kitsune_rei.
I also have a not very secret alternate male account I don't use as often under Chibi
Kitsune_rei.
I spend a lot of my time in minishops forum, which are various types of
graphics sold for gold in a thread made by someone, I also love
Breedables for all the wonderful pet creations. I wander around some
randomly as well. You can find some of my art in the Art
Arena.
I've gone through several shops, some of which are no longer with us (Kitsubi
Community Shop) and some which ended up being too big to handle (Under
the Kobaki Tree.) My oldest shop is the Little Fox Shoppe, which is
simply cute fox images for sale, I like to go back to that one when I
have time. I occasionally do avatar art commission auctions and other
random art for people as time permits. I tend to go between spending a
lot of time on and easing back and not getting on as much.
Some thoughts and bits about my life from me:
I'm a pretty laid-back person. I was very quiet and shy for the
most part until I got to college. I didn't turn into a party animal or
anything, but I just got more assured of myself and spoke out more. I read all the time, especially in middle and
high school. I practically lived at the library ^_^. I was always
doodling stuff, most of my notes would have little pictures all over
them. Sometimes it did help me pay attention though. And sometimes it
was a distraction ^_^. I enjoyed writing and literature classes, and the
sciences were usually fairly interesting (I'm more interested in biology
and anatomy than physics and chemistry.). I was never very good at math, I
just didn't seem to naturally follow that kind of logic although I could
see why certain people would like it. I was also never the best at
grammar classes, I could write pretty well but wasn't good at breaking
down sentences. I started the gifted program back in elementary school
and hated it there, I almost didn't continue in middle school but I
actually ended up really liking my teacher there so that worked out
really well- actually she really spurred me on to get into the art
program in high school. I was also in band as
my elective for middle school (played flute since elementary school), although I wish I could have
tried out some other instruments, but I started late and missed my
chance. I gradually found music wasn't really
for me more than on a hobby level anyway. Some of my other interests
include folklore of various parts of the world, particularly Scandinavia,
Japan, and the regions around them. I've read stuff from all over
though, including French, Russian, Indian, and the Arctic regions. I
have a growing interest in Japanese culture especially since I started
watching anime. I think they are a good example of a power much like the
US but very different culturally and historically. I have sort of a
vague general interest in history revolving around certain time periods. I also have general interests in
animals, psychology, and the sciences such as anatomy and geology and
stuff relating to the natural world.
High school was when I first started taking art classes, boy did
I ever. I auditioned and sent my portfolio to Gibbs, which had the PCCA
(Pinellas County Center for the Arts) program (it covered music, visual
art, dance, theater, tech theater, vocal, etc.) I was accepted for music and art and I chose art. We had 7
periods a day instead of 6 and a big block of just art classes every
day. The rest of the school wasn't that great but I mostly had advanced
or art-related classes so I was generally with the same group of people
apart from the regular school other than basic classes like math,
American government, history, and such. I didn't really have much
time outside of class to pursue other electives. In some respects that
really honed some of my artistic skills, but in other respects its the
reason I didn't go to an art school for college- I got rather burned
out. Pretty much my whole school career
my schedule was always made out for me, I never got to pick much in the
way of extras. So I wanted to go to a college where I could do that,
just pick up some unusual classes for my own interest and information.
In a way that has hurt me because I'm not very specialized, the art
department at FSU while not bad wasn't really challenging to me. But on
the other hand I did get to take classes like Japanese language,
Japanese calligraphy, Japanese culture, Women in Psychology, General and
Social psychology, Women in literature, Folklore, some interesting
Anthropology classes, and several others that
wouldn't have been available at an arts college. I actually ended up
with a minor in Women's Studies just because I was interested in taking
most of the classes anyway. But I was pretty burned out by the time I
made it to the end of college. I just didn't want to deal with school
anymore. I'd like to eventually go back for grad school but I need a
break and I need to find better direction. Yeah everyone says once you quit you won't end up going back but
I have faith that when the time feels right I will- probably by my late
20s. I can understand that its going to be hard tho, both money and
time-wise.
I've always just felt creative, like I think differently that a
lot of other people. Some things are obvious to me that aren't to
others. I just can't stop thinking of STUFF. Things like "wouldn't
it look neat if..." and "wouldn't it be fun if that looked
more like that..." or just having an urgent need to sculpt
something in my head. I really like to have fun with my art. Some of
my favorite projects are the ones that make people smile or laugh, or
just have to think a little differently. Break up the norm. One example would be for a
project where we had to make a slide (by photocopying images onto
acetate or whatever it was) and project it somewhere around the art building
where the place is integral to the image. So I found a nice picture of a
forest, with the light shining through the trees. And I projected it
into the rectangular drainage hole underneath the walkway. I built a box to fit in
it with a white back so you could see the image a little ways inside
(sorry no pictures from this.) You also had to crouch down in the grass
to look in. Another example would be my Umbrellas in the Stairwell
installation. That one was just fun! I like hanging things (I've made a
lot of mobiles actually) and it was a
bit of a challenge to set up. So you walk in the stairwell and there's
all these umbrellas suspended all down the center. I also think its
funny that people have superstitions about stuff like opening an
umbrella inside. I do have pictures from this in my fine art section
under artwork.
As for other art I like drawing from life a lot, particularly
figure drawing. I'm pretty good at breaking down shapes and how to
represent them. I've gotten more into designing my own characters now
that I have a better background in life, I used to have a lot of
difficulty at making up stuff but feel I've gotten my hand in better touch with my
brain ^_^. I'm pretty much an organically inspired artist, I don't do
too much that involves hard lines- I'd much rather draw a leaf than a
car.
As for my life right now I feel like I'm just trying to get
by. While art will always be in my life, I don't think it'll be what
gets me through life financially ^_^. I recently moved up north (whee
new territory!) and am trying to figure out what I want to do as a more
lasting job. I just feel like I'd
never last at a normal job, if there's such a thing. Maybe one day I'd like to go back to school and get a degree
in a more serious art program, or start something completely different.
I honestly have no clue what I'll be doing and where I'll be even 3
years from now.
My current career aspirations (most of which aren't that
realistic), are- librarian, photographer (for most anything other than
sports or politics), flourist, something working with cats or unique
wildlife in a animal shelter or zoo, some kind of creative art
organization, and massage theorapy. Art seems to still be a side thing
for me though I still love it. So far I've only worked basic jobs like
AMC theaters, Spencer Gifts, Michaels etc. though my new bank job is
quite nice so I'm slowly getting somewhere. I guess maybe I'm a little
afraid of success? I do worry about disappointing people...
So I guess that give you a bit of an idea about me... probably
more than you wanted to know LOL.
